Small Black and Yellow Wasp - Allantus viennensis

Small Black and Yellow Wasp - Allantus viennensis
Springfield, Virginia, USA
August 27, 2004
A small wasp with many yellow bands. It was crawling around a rose plant. Any help in identifying is appreciated.

Allantus viennensis (Schrank)
Allantus viennensis (Schrank) (Tenthredinidae). Larvae of this species feed on roses. It was accidentally introduced from Europe, first found in the U.S. in NY in the 1970's and first found in norhern Virginia in th 1980's. So far, it is known only from NY to VA.

could this be the adult of...

A google.com image search of Allantus viennensis yielded this webpage:
http://schmetterling-raupe.de/art/larven.htm

It seems to show a larva very similar to the ones I've been seeing on the roses in my garden.

sawfly
Nice portrait of some kind of sawfly. I will try to get my expert friend to ID it more specifically.
