Male Scoliid Wasp.
This is not a half-bad image of a male Scolia ardens, a common wasp in the family Scoliidae. Females are generally even larger, with comparatively short, sometimes curled, antennae. The 'pseudostinger' on this male can be seen at the tip of the abdomen. Any idea what flowers it is on, and whether that plant is still blooming? I'm always on the lookout for flowers when I go collecting around here:-)

Triscolia ardens?
Pardon my lack of wasp knowledge but there is a need to clarify this. Nearctica.com lists "Triscolia ardens Smith 1855 (Scolia)". Is there an updated list of Scoliid Wasp genera?

Triscolia?
Mackay 1987 lists this sp a Triscolia ardens has been changed to the genus Scolia?
