blue hind tibia
is the normal condition throughout the southwest and on the southern half of the Great Plains. Brightest blues seem to be most common in Arizona, NM, west Texas and northern Mexico. Tibia color can vary in one population from blue thru green to yellow or brown, or gray, some are almost black. Yellow hind tibia is most common in mountains and north. Too bad they don't come with blue wings to match! I have a "thing" about true blue - it is not a particularly common color in nature, at least not compared to other colors.

Yes.
Pronotal ridge broken by only one sulcus; early in the year. Disc of hind wing should be yellow, orange, or red. Apparently blue hind tibia is not typical, though (should be yellow).

Here is the hindwing
and the tibia which is definitely blue.
Thanks, Eric, the blue hind-leg made me pick it up.
