Ants - Liometopum occidentale
Yosemite Valley, Mariposa County, California, USA

Size: 4.2-4.4 mm bl
The ant trail crossed a sandy patch in a human trail near the Merced River (elev. ~4000 ft., 122 m), midday. These look like the velvety tree ants I found in Yosemite Valley last year, but this time they weren't concentrated around a tree.
