Common skating along the surface of tidepools.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

I'm still waiting for the paper with the description of the species, but I think it has to be this one.

Thanks John
I have no other photos at the moment, but they were quite common and I may be able to shoot more next time I'm at the beach. Are the females of this genus wingless?

Wingless
Females are wingless.

Emergence of some of marine midges is synchronized with the tide, phase of moon, and/or time of day. The common European Clunio is found twice per month, appearing for two hours at the low point of the spring tide and adjacent low tides.

Any more pictures?
Do you have any more pictures of these? How about the females? (This should be a male.) My first impression is Clunio, which has one species from California.
