Beautiful and beetlecidal - Enoclerus muttkowskii

Beautiful and beetlecidal - Enoclerus muttkowskii
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
July 9, 2006
Size: 12.5 - 13 mm
Finally the clerid moved around a bit, dragging its prey in its mandibles reminiscent of the way a feline hunter drags a bird of rodent it has killed.

I was suffering from a painfully swollen knee, so I threw a lid on the clerid and the other sap beetles and retired. A peek later on revealed only parts of the remaining sap beetles. This clerid was a little on the voracious side.
