Found under a rock on a limestone glade. When repeatedly touched, it began to raise its head off the ground and flail around as seen here.

That seems to be a threat posture. I hope you didn't provoke it any further. These are very aggressive creatures.

I assumed it was a threat posture and used care when handling it...I have no desire to take a bite from one of these and I am not careless with them.
