Orb Spider - Acanthepeira stellata

Orb Spider - Acanthepeira stellata
Atchison, Atchison County, Kansas, USA
April 28, 2012
Size: 1/4 inch
This beautiful creature was on my back wall...hardly disturbed at all by me moving utensils around it. I was wondering if the red spots were 'natural' or a 'bad' thing. I've never noticed this species before. Any help extremely appreciated!

Moved
Moved from ID Request. It's most likely A. stellata based on range. I don't think those red marks are natural ... anyone painting in the area?

Ahhh...
...would never have guessed an Orb spider! No painting at all. No reds anywhere...I went out and looked to be sure. The spider is no longer on the wall but will keep an eye out in the location to see if I find it again with possible 'advanced' colors or other look.

Araneidae
Looks like Acanthepeira. Species may be Acanthepeira stellata or Acanthepeira cherokee.

Thank you Joseph...
Going along the lines of A.stellata. Any ideas on the red spotting?
