False Click Beetle - Stethon pectorosus Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA July 14, 2006 Size: about 9 mm
One of the first beetles to show up at my MV light this evening. This one shows the strongly deflexed head, antennal stow-away grooves, weak poststernal process and rugose texture associated with at least some of family Eucnemidae. I knew before I picked it up that it was not a true click beetle.
