False Click Beetle - Stethon pectorosus

Size: about 9 mm
One of the first beetles to show up at my MV light this evening. This one shows the strongly deflexed head, antennal stow-away grooves, weak poststernal process and rugose texture associated with at least some of family Eucnemidae. I knew before I picked it up that it was not a true click beetle.

Confirmed! Stethon pectorosus
Always hungry for new families for bugguide, I sometimes see new families where none exist :-) Therefore, although I had placed this image on a page I created for Eucnemidae, I decided to check with Jyrki Muona, who wrote the section on Eucnemidae in American Beetles. Here is the response:

"63974 is a eucnemid, Stethon pectorosus, subfamily Eucneminae.
60144 is an elat*erid - unfortunately I do not know which one!
