Fuzzy nymph on arrowwood, Viburnum dentatum - Phenacoccus aceris

Fuzzy nymph on arrowwood, Viburnum dentatum - Phenacoccus aceris
Briar Bush Nature Center, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
May 3, 2012
Size: 1-2 mm
Almost a month later, there are still some of these bugs on the arrowwoods. They have developed a heavy waxy coat and, curiously, the coccid under the coat is much reduced in size. Perhaps they don't feed at all at this time.
