Robber Fly I think.. - Asilus sericeus

I believe this is a robber fly, but have seen some images on another site that have "robber flies" but they look nothing like this one..is that what this is?

Asilus
Appears to be Asilus sericeus. A male. Big, aggressive open country robbers in the east.
