Ten lined June Beetle ? - Polyphylla crinita - female

Ten lined June Beetle ? - Polyphylla crinita - Female
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
July 15, 2006
I found this beetle today and I think it is a Ten lined June Beetle. I found one last year but the head and back were had the same lines and color. The head of this and parts of the underside were very reddish. Is it just the difference in the sexes or young etc. Info would be very helpful. Thanks

Polyphylla crinita
Hair-like setae on the disc of the pronotum

Yes, female, too:-)
Not a bad image of a female ten-lined June beetle, Polyphylla decimlineata. Females have rather tiny antennae like this, whereas the males have extraordinarily large antennae.

Thanks Eric, always good to get a picture of the male and female. managed to get the male one last year.
