wasp with geometrid caterpillar - Goniozus

wasp with geometrid caterpillar - Goniozus
Molino Basin, Catalinas, Pima County, Arizona, USA
May 16, 2012
Size: 4 mm wasp
the caterpillar was hanging from its silk, the wasp attached to its head by its mandibles. I had to move them to a leaf for the photo. The wasp didn't let go. what's going on? The wasp doesn't seem to be a species that would carry the caterpillar to its nest, more like a parasite that would lay eggs on the cat where it is?

Question...
Can you provide any closeups of the wasp? It appears to be a bethylid. Besides beetles, they also attack Lep. larvae. Females typically paralyze the host first, then lay eggs externally on the body.

I tried, above.
Wing venation is not visible in any of my images. To much glare

Thanks for these images…
You can see the pterostigma as well as other features including a quadrate mesothorax, pointed abdomen, and dorsal sutures. Looks like a match to me.

See reference here.

Thank you!
