Moth Pupae

Moth Pupae
Homer, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, USA
May 19, 2012
Size: lg-1 1/2"; sm-1"
My husband found these two pupae buried in a pile of leaves on our carport. They are identical except one is larger, and the larger one had whitish residue on it. Also, the smaller one wriggled its pointy tail a lot when touched, but the larger one never moved. I think the larger one may be injured. Are these Phlogophora, perhaps Phlogophora meticulosa?

unidentifiable at this point
what you can do is place them in a container with the leaves and a couple drops of water,,and a stick to climb on whne they eclose and lid it..then place outdoors out of the sun and check it every day. the one with the whiteish dusting on it..may be something close to catocala like zale, catocala, etc as they have that look..and are larger..(some of them)

Thanks!
Sure enough does look like Catacola. Thanks for your help! I've already made a home for them in a vase. I have another vase with a Spicebush swallowtail chrysalis and I can't wait to see them all come out. (:
