CORRECTION to id: Neocicada hieroglyphica
Reevaluation! & yes I make mistakes and should always consider all images in a series.

Tenerals (newly emerged) cicadas are often difficult to recognize and id. In this series, the shell is NOT that of Cicadetta and the prothoracic legs look a bit gracile.

NOTE:
1) The black bands in the shell are characteristic of Neocicada hieroglyphica (common in Oklahoma) and NOT Cicadetta...after reconsideration (and additional opinions), this is Neocicada.
2) Cicadetta have open tymbals and upon closer examination, this cicada exhibits closed.
3) body = 1inch more or less - that's a bit big for Cicadetta.
4) May-June are the months when Neocicada first appears in OK!

Thank you, Bill!
Much appreciated.
