is much more likely.

 
Agree...
with DSC's choice of Ameletus. Same family. Other genera have either obvious differences or mouth-part differences that we really don't want to contemplate. The late George F. Edmunds, Jr. (et.al.) book, "The Mayflies of North and Central America", although some taxonomy is dated, is very useful and gives information to provide direction, if you really want to delve into the subject.
