Identification
Adults are unmistakeable. Larvae are grayish brown with green warts and spines.
Range
Mexico and the West Indies south through at least Paraguay, with strays reaching south and rarely central Texas.
Season
March through November; most US records are in autumn and early winter
Food
Adults do not come to flowers, but are attracted to rotting and overripe fruit. Caterpillars eat the foliage of Noseburn or Pine Nettle (Tragia volubilis, family Euphorbiaceae)
