Nest of spiders, maybe common garden spider - Araneus diadematus

Nest of spiders, maybe common garden spider - Araneus diadematus
Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
May 24, 2012
Size: about 1cm
These spider nests are a very common sight around my home for as long as I can remember and can be numerous at times. I think they're common garden spider babies as they are incredibly abundant around here.

Moved
Moved from unidentified egg sacs, spiderlings, & young spiders. That's it alright. Thanks for following up.

Moved
Moved from ID Request. We'd certainly like to see what adult orbweavers are abundant in your area later in the year which may help solve this mystery.

Looks like we don't know for sure...

..but Eric Eaton suggests Araneus as a possibility.

Araneus diadematus?
This link shows a photo of what these common adults look like (didnt see any on my property to photo today), called Araneus diadematus in photo.

This link has a photo of a Araneus diadematus spider nest, which looks identical to my photo.

Araneus diadematus?
Yes. I think that's very likely. However, since we have no images of that species from Nova Scotia yet, I'd feel more comfortable if you provided us an image of the adult before we move the spiderlings to that page. We can wait... if it takes all summer (or years from now). No hurry on our end.

Here's a larger picture of one of these abundant spiders
Saw this one in a web, fairly small this time of year, body 1cm long.
