Anoplius subcylindricus - male

Anoplius subcylindricus - Male
Bath Township, just e. of Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA
July 16, 2006
Size: 7 mm
This is a member of the evil subgenus of Anoplius, Pompilinus (or Arachnophroctonus, depending on who you talk to). The males are small and sometimes exceedingly difficult to identify and some females cannot even be accurately associated with males. Some species are known from only males, as females sometimes cannot be separated (i.e. the "marginatus complex").
