Wolf Spider - Pardosa lapidicina - female

Wolf Spider - Pardosa lapidicina - Female
Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
August 27, 2004
This spider measured 8mm after molt. Here it's shown just prior. Habitat is beach stone.

Identity?
Tom, Jeff Hollenbeck feels these are not Pardosa, but he isn't certain in which genus to place them. Any thoughts for him on that?

Let Jeff make the call!
Eye arrangement appears to be similar to Pardosa but the spiders are fairly large for the genus. I was thinking Arctosa just as well as that genus tends to match the background on which they are found. Perhaps I should not attach any genus to certain specimens unless I'm certain...I plead guily!

After reading your comments and further investigation, I believe I am the guilty party. Sorry. Moved to new page. Let me know if you disagree.

Nice image
You do the most amazing spider portraits.

Thanks,
Eric, I believe a spider deserves no less!
