Tiny but stunning in the sun, it's perched on a dandelion petal.

That's it, and now googling the name kicks up useful links. It's not in the new Peterson guide which explains why I couldn't find it there.
Credit also goes to Robert Lord Zimlich who snapped the image Yurika posted. He snapped it May 18, 2012 in Alabama. This moth gets around.

Coincidentally...
...others were nectaring here on Daisies and fleabane by sticking their heads in pretty deep. None of the images I've seen show a proboscis. It must be very short!
Also, the image of a face on the wings is amusing.
