Great Golden Digger - Sphex ichneumoneus

Size: ~20mm
Went in the yard to see who was attracted to our Indian Plantain, Cacalia atriplicifolia. There were several species of flies, some bees, a bug and a beetle, but today the flowers were wasp magnets! We're thinking there were maybe seven species. The second sphecid to stop by was the Great Golden Digger.
