Eastern Hercules Beetle (Dynastes tityus) ? - Dynastes tityus - male

Eastern Hercules Beetle (Dynastes tityus) ? - Dynastes tityus - Male
Dixon, Pulaski County, Missouri, USA
July 6, 2002
Size: 2in?
I believe that this is an Eastern Hercules Beetle, but his coloring is a little different. It's the only one I've ever seen in Missouri. He was really fantastic! Not aggressive at all. My brother actually took the pictures, but I did get his permission to post them.

I too agree
I too agree. These beetles are variable in their markings, and in fact you may sometimes find an all-dark one. But there is really nothing else like these beetles.

You are correct
Hercules Beetle (also known as Unicorn Beetle). They are very nice to have in a beetle collection.
