This millipede is a female of an unknown subspecies of Pachydesmus crassicutis (Wood) (Polydesmida: Xystodesmidae). It is the largest bodied xystodesmid in the United States, and this is its typical color pattern. It is in a different tribe from the species of Apheloria, Sigmoria, Cherokia, etc.
