Black and Yellow Beetle - Gymnetis thula

Black and Yellow Beetle - Gymnetis thula
Bellville, Austin County, Texas, USA
July 12, 2006
Size: about 1 inch
This strange beetle landed on my horse a few days ago in Bellville, TX, which is about 50 miles northwest of Houston. I am working on an insect collection for school, and that is why it is pinned. This project has been hard for me, I don't like to kill the poor insects. ;( But, I need to get it identified down to a species and have looked for hours on the internet with no luck. Any help is appreciated!

Fourtern years later, I found
Fourtern years later, I found this beetle in Bellville, TX also. What a small world
