Hodges#8129 - Pyrrharctia isabella
Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County, California, USA
June 8, 2012
Size: ws 56mm
This one should be easy! The upper legs are bright orange, and the wing span is 56mm. wings have a pattern of spots on them. The background color is a very saturated orangish brown.

Check out the orange on the underside - it is nearly fluorescent!

must be the same species as though only a trace of the orange is visible on one of the legs.

Thanks, Yurika!
They seem to be very widespread, however, this will be the first adult of this species for California!
