Eastern Dobsonfly (Corydalus cornutus) - Corydalus cornutus - male

Eastern Dobsonfly (Corydalus cornutus) - Corydalus cornutus - Male
Adamsville, Jefferson County, Alabama, USA
July 20, 2006
Size: Approximately 5 in long
Never seen any insect like this before! Was dive bombing around my carport light this evening, and finally landed on my filthy car (not all nature shots are award winning, have to take what one can get). Darn thing would frighten anyone in a class B horror film! I was able to identify the insect using bugguide.net's guide.

Kodak Digital- F2.8 - 1/60 - ISO 100
