Yponomeuta - Yponomeuta cagnagella

Yponomeuta - Yponomeuta cagnagella
Chicago, Illinois, USA
July 20, 2006
Yponomeuta Sp. I looked at the 3 here and MPG but I can't get a handle on how to seperate them. I was hopeing someone could help me out. If I had to guess I would say Yponomeuta cagnagella seem to have the most similar spots but I'm sure that's highly variable.

I believe there is a detailed
I believe there is a detailed explanation on these at MPG, under the live shots. There are actually 4 species of these. Based on the markings you can eliminate multipunctella and plumbella. I think it is cagnagella (2 rows of black spots, a solid white area, then 1 row of spots). Padella is the others species, that to me, looks very similar. I think it's an introduced species, and I don't know it's range. Maybe others will comment.
