There were dozens of these centipedes moving around on the wood of the hoophouse as we turned the compost pile today. Many of them bore these mites.

You're totally right; I got the number of legs backwards in my head. That explains why they were so lazy and docile! - centipedes seem to rarely just hang out like these guys were.
