Treehopper - Rhabdocephala brunnea

San Pedro River Valley, SE of San Manuel, Pinal County, Arizona, USA
June 21, 2012

Small, jumps alot, appears to be a nymph due to small wings at side (eyes in center of image); seems like it tries to mimic a Scorpion - even with fake eyes near the end of the abdomen; Sonoran Desert scrub, elev 2800 feet

I wonder if this would be a Rhabdocephala brunnea nymph - it has the very long head and the tail looks like a forceps.

here's what Andy Hamilton had to say:
You are absolutely right in your identification. Rhabdocephala is one
of the insects that forms a link between the traditional Fulgoridae
(large insects with reticulate hind wings) and "Dictyopharidae". The
nymph is obviously similar to those of Dictyopharinae such as
Rhynchomitra and Scolops, but the adult more closely resembles Zanna
(Fulgoridae), a much larger but also sticklike insect.
