Cameraria fletcherella (T) - Hodges #0820 - Cameraria fletcherella
Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, USA
June 17, 2012
First for Falls Lake State Park, possibly first for NC, and new for Bugguide. Identified by looking at pinned specimens on BOLD.

Cameraria fletcherella - Hodges #0820
Moved from Cameraria.

According to Terry Harrison there are about 5 similar species with C. fletcherella being his tenative id according to the published description. Dissection is needed to be certain with this group. I will add more notes to the species page later so please check back.
Please contact me at maury.heiman@gmail.com regarding permission to display photographs of moths and larvae that you post here also on plates/pages at Moth Photographers Group.
Thanks

Thank you!
Thank you Maury! I think 0807 is a better match than 0820, but if Terry Harrison feels this is C. fletcherella then I will go with his id.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Did you pin this one for photos?
Difficult group but hopefully we can place. Seeking help outside Bug Guide!
Thanks

No, did not pin this one. But
No, did not pin this one. But I compared my find with all other species in this genus, and this is the only one that matched. It feeds on oak trees, plenty of which I have in my backyard, and it has been recorded in Virginia before. There are a number that look very similar, as it is a difficult genus, but the pattern on mine only matches this species.

undescribed species exist
a few undescribed species exist but hopefully we will learn more soon and can place this.
Thanks
