Explanation of Names

Author of genus is Hahn, 1833. From Greek hypselonotos (υψηλονωτος): hypselos(υψηλος) (from hypsos(υψος), high) plus notus, Greek notos (νωτος) meaning back (1) (and Internet searches).

Numbers

Nearctica.com lists two members of the genus from North America.
