How about a
Stilt-legged fly (Micropezidae)?
Was it running around on leaves?

 
No..
It was checking out our stuff on the picnic table.

 
shiny thorax and triangular shaped
dark spot on the wings - we would say Rainieria antennaepes. Images in the guide here
