Snout Moth - Hahncappsia

Snout Moth - Hahncappsia
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
July 16, 2006
Size: 2 cm
I think the "snout" places it as a Crambid, but can't get any closer.

Moved
Moved from Pale-winged Crocidophora Moth. ID corrected by Brian Scholtens via Bob Patterson at MPG. So much for my accululated acumen! :)

Nice work, Steve
We moved a number of images from "Moths" to "Pyraloidea" yesterday in the hopes of stimulating some action on them. Could you take a look here and see if you recognize any of the others? Giving a firm ID or confirming a tentative one already given would be great. Just leave a comment and we should get an email. There also have long been tons of images on the Pyralidae and Crambidae Family pages. We realize that those may have to wait for another day, but just so you know they are sitting there looking for an ID. Hope "the Year of the Lep" went well. It is amazing how much one can learn in a year of focused attention, isn't it?
