Fishfly - but what genus? - Neohermes concolor

Fishfly - but what genus? - Neohermes concolor
Framingham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 24, 2006
Size: at least 5cm long
Found at the porch light with two other fishflies. The other two specimens had pectinate antennae and appear to be genus Chauliodes. This one is lacking the yellow coloring and does not seem to have pectinate or serrate antennae. With black spotting on wings I am thinking genus Neohermes - also if you look at the closeup and squint your eyes, you can see there are little hairs around the antenna segments.

Neohermes
Yes, a Neohermes. I think the bead-like (moniliform) antennae are distinctive for this genus, at least in the east. They do look real similar to Chauliodes, good call on noticing the antennae. Good find.
