Help me ID this impressive grub - Alaus oculatus

Help me ID this impressive grub - Alaus oculatus
Lakeland, Polk County, Florida, USA
July 25, 2006
Size: about 70 mm
This grub was crawling up a decaying piece of wood from an oak tree that was blown down in Hurrican Charley two years ago. He is very impressive in size and quite large pinchers. Photo doesn't show it, but he has a couple of claspers on the posterior end much like a caterpillar. I would love to know what it eats and might beocme. Either way, I will try to raise it. Perhaps it eats worms? It doesn't like light. Just found this and haven't made any concrete observations yet.

Eyed elater larva?
I'm thinking this might be the larva of an eyed elater, Alaus oculatus. I know we already have some larval images for that species, so you might compare yours to those. Excellent images, Scott.
