help ident a large, unusual insect with mandibles and long thick wings.

I'm fairly stumped as to what this is, does anyone have any idea?

I am not sure if it is a beetle or what. It was around 4 inches in size, and I could not get it to spread its wings or fly(not that I wanted it to lol). It stayed in the same spot until night time, when it left.
