Basilica Orbweaver - Mecynogea lemniscata - Male
Newport near Banning Park, New Castle County, Delaware, USA
July 2, 2012
I've seen 3 different individuals so far on my deck.
They seem to be quite content to set up housekeeping in my houseplants.
Another individual is on my Sansevieria.
I'd be curious to find out if they eat other spiders.
This one was within inches of two of another species, and earlier,
in May, I had a pair of Filmy Dome Spiders on the Sansevieria,
like last year, and one day I noticed another web starting on
the same plant. A few days later there were no more Filmy
Domes to be found and some time later I finally figured out
that I had a different spider on the new web. I was flabbergasted
the first time I blew up a photo and saw the mesh web.

Moved from Spiders. It doesn't look like it moved the first time.

Holy Toledo, but you're fast!
I just got finished submitting my remarks and I see you already moved the picture! :oD
Any decent pics are mostly accidental. :o(
I try, though.
