Green Orb Weaver - Araneus detrimentosus - female

Green Orb Weaver - Araneus detrimentosus - Female
Mission Canyon, Santa Barbara County, California, USA
May 27, 2012
Size: 2 mm
A very small orb weaver of coastal California even as an adult, this Green Orb Weaver is still young and only about 2 mm long. It appears that the brown setae on the abdomen are gradually lost or worn off as the spider grows, revealing the abdomen's green surface beneath.

It's a beauty. At 2 mm I would guess it must still be a juvenile.

Nice!
Lovely shot! Great addition to the guide.
