"Brachinus adustipennis",
known in Tx, is an initial suggestion based on darkened knees (distal femora). For that name to hold, wish the elytra in image appeared more brownish (should not be blue to black). Elytral epipleura should also be brownish.

Brownish epipleura
colored like legs is strong evidence for "Brachinus adustipennis". Most other species have dark bluish to blackish epipleura.

Latin lesson: pleuron (singular) vs pleura (plural). I'm not sure if spelling alternative "pleurae" is legal? Similarly, note these pairs: femur vs femora and tibia vs tibiae.

Thanks for correcting me ... although the -on / -a plural form is Greek, not Latin. I thought (for some reason) that pleura was a singular Latin word ending in -a, which take plurals in -ae ...

Yeesh. And thank you for the identification!

The dark elytral coloration i
The dark elytral coloration is partially a result of the lighting used to take the photo. Under direct, overhead light, they are duller in color (not really brown, though -- grayish blue?) Epipleurae are a light brown color, similar to the color of the legs.
