Portrait of a Goldenrod Spider - Misumenoides formosipes

Portrait of a Goldenrod Spider - Misumenoides formosipes
Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
August 31, 2004

closeup
Cropped Bill's image to get a closeup of the face for an article

The eye arrangement
with that clear horizontal transverse ridge between the eyes makes this look like the poster image for Misumenoides. We had been looking for a white ridge, but Lynette's questions sent us back, and we're now considering that the ridge needn't be white. What do others think?

Hi Tony
Glad to see you posting again. I really like this one. If I stare at it too long though it starts to put me into a trance.
