Big black and white fly - Xenox tigrinus

Big black and white fly - Xenox tigrinus
Queen Village, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, USA
July 10, 2012
Size: ~18mm long
The wingspan as seen here is about 1 inch, but I don't know what it would be with the wings fully extended. The fly sat still while I moved the camera around it - it wasn't very "flighty."
