Short-horned grasshopper -
Melanoplus femurrubrum
-
Pheasant Branch Conservancy, Middleton, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
July 28, 2006
This looks close to some of the nymphs shown on the general short-horned grasshopper section. Can it be linked to an adult?

Melanoplus femurrubrum probably
Rarely absolutely certain on a nymph of this genus, but this probably belongs to this species. It is a last (probably 5th) instar nymph.

Nymphs.
Dream on! This is most likely in the genus Melanoplus, though, and that will be the best we can do.
