Whitemarked Tussock Moth - Orgyia detrita

Whitemarked Tussock Moth - Orgyia detrita
Gainesville, Florida, USA
Similar to Orgyia detrita, Orgyia leucostigma is very similar but has a lighter overall body coloring. Larvae feed on Oaks. My larvae look quite different from the others on this page, so I will have to investigate my ID further. Check http://eny3541.ifas.ufl.edu/Tussock/Orgyia.htm for information.

Rusty Tussock Moth
Orgyia antigua is not a species that is currently represented on this site, but if you have pictures please feel free to post them, and new guide page will have to be created to accommodate them. I was unable to find if this species has made it to Florida.

I believe this is a light-colored Orgyia detrita
compare these shots from the University of Florida here. This species is supposedly more common than O leucostigma in FL. According to Wagner, the orange warts are diagnostic.

other Orgyias
Does O. antigua John Snyder fit in here someplace too? Has it made it down to Florida? We haven't seen a US map for it.
