Eastern Amberwing - Perithemis tenera

Eastern Amberwing - Perithemis tenera
Near Catarina, TX, Dimmit County, Texas, USA
July 29, 2006
My guess is an Eastern Amberwing. As a crow flies, about 15 miles from the US/Mexico Border. Anyone?

Perithemis
I think your original hunch is correct, Perithemis tenera. For me, that dark rear edge of the hind wing is one key. But I can also see why you considered Perithemis domitia: the sides of the thorax have an unusually large pale area.

Agreed.
Thanks for your help stephen.
