Salticidae sp - Phidippus whitmani

Salticidae sp - Phidippus whitmani
2 miles north of Colmesneil, Tyler County, Texas, USA
July 17, 2012
Is this Phidippus whitmani? I scooped this spider into a bucket to try to take its picture and while in the bucket, the spider caught a tiny cricket. I turned the spider and its prey loose and then got my best photo. The additional photo is blurry but the eye arrangement can still be seen.

Looks like
one of the Phidippus jumpers. Texas is not my area of expertise; you'll have to wait for another expert to weigh in. Beautiful spider!
