Rabid Wolf Spider - Rabidosa rabida - male

Rabid Wolf Spider - Rabidosa rabida - Male
Essex, Ontario, Canada
July 29, 2006
Size: 15 mm
I think this may be Hogna rabida. Description: Color pattern in R. rabida does not differ significantly between male and female specimens, except for the dark coloration of the first pair of legs in the male. The cephalothorax (front body section) has two dark stripes. The abdomen (rear body section) has one dark stripe surrounded by two pale lines which break into chevrons at the side edges.
