Green Bee - Augochlora pura - female

Green Bee - Augochlora pura - Female
Winfield Mounds Forest Preserve, DuPage County, Illinois, USA
July 30, 2006
Size: 9mm
Can anyone tell me what this bee is doing? Appears as if she is blowing bubbles and extending and retracting her proboscis over and over again. Odd behavior? Probably not, but I've never noticed these bees doing this.

Moved from Sweat Bees.

Not odd behavior,
I recently photographed the same thing.

Augochlora sp. or Augochlorella sp.
This is a sweat bee. Can't tell which genus though,

Cheers,
Amro

Orchard bee?
First I wonder if this is an orchard bee.

Second, it looks like it is expelling water. Or expelling then inhaling water. Perhaps to cool itself?
