Found this stunning dragonfly while taking photos at the Botanical Gardens. It is one of the prettiest I have ever come across. Thank you for helping to ID.

Neon Skimmer male
I believe this is a male Neon Skimmer, _Libellula croceipennis_. See also: and

If you're near a pond or pool in midday, the females are laying eggs in the water (near aquatic vegetation or algal mats) right now in central Texas. The males usually patrol an area of shaded water, especially streams, but they're patrolling a little less vigorously (more likely to see them perched) than a month ago.
