Skipper - Lerema accius

Skipper - Lerema accius
Seminole, Pinellas County, Florida, USA
July 30, 2006
Size: 1 1/8"
Looks something like the Umber Skippers in the guide, but not in the correct location for that.
Any ideas on this one?

Could be a clouded skipper,
I'm going by the three white spots in a row on the forewing and generally dark chocolate-brown color. Lerema accius.

Daniels(1) says the female Poanes zabulon is similar, though the images we have of it here don't seem to be much like this.

I think you're right...
although the clouded skippers in the guide seem to vary in appearance quite a bit. I have a third picture, although it's slightly blurry, that may help a bit. I'll add it.

Yes,
still seems like a good match with that arrangement of spots.

OK, Thanks
Thanks again!
